< strong > MINISTRA GONZÁLEZ VILLARRUÉ EXpONE TO THE OAS AVANCES FROM PANAMA IN CULTURAL MATERY < / strong >

The Minister of Culture (MiCultura) Giselle González Villarrué outlined at a meeting of the Inter-American Commission of Culture (CIC) and of the Organization of American States (OAS), where Panama holds second vice-president, the actions taken by the country with regard to cultural matters.

The incumbent of Culture reported that, among other measures, the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Reforms and Executions was ratified, the establishment of the Centre for Historical, Anthropological and Cultural Research and public policies have been brought up with the promotion of the Creative Economy for Sustainable Development.

González Villarrué stated in the international body that "we are a country that believes in international cooperation and the potential of strategic partnerships to benefit each other, to improve our responses to local challenges and to add forces and resources to better impact, in search of equity: in an inclusive and united manner."

He added that the regional meeting was "very productive" and that a commitment was made to chair the focus of action related to: methodologies and policies for promoting management, consumption of cultural goods and services in the digital environment.

Among these actions, the Minister for Culture highlighted the conduct of online seminars about models, methods and research activities in the area of cultural development.

He emphasized the implementation of other actions, such as the proposal for a Labour and Social Security Act for artists, art and entertainment workers, that came from the trade unions and that is at the appropriate level at the National Assembly, the creation of 307 Colmenal Reading Centres, an application to the UNESCO to achieve "Transistmic Colonial Route" will be declared a World Heritage Site.
