< strong > At an international meeting, women will show music talent < / strong >

The first International Convention of Women in Music will be held from 6 to 8 March at the Anita Villalaz Theater, in celebration of International Women's Day, an activity organized by the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and the youth Iberorcestas program under the direction of the teacher, Electra Castillo.

The summit to be held under the title "Dysonances," will include talks, panels, open discussions, round tables, working groups and interviews to discuss the status of gender equality in this sector, as well as visualizing the contributions and advances of professional women in music and different educational projects.

They will be about 30 women among teachers, interpreters, composers and orchestras directors from Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Chile and Panama.

Panama will be represented by Margarita Troesch (pianist), Ela Ponce (percussionist), Mar Alzamora (contrabajist), Melanie Taylor (violinist) and Marcela Méndez, among others.

Electra Castillo, general director of Panama's Network of Orchestra and Youth Choirs, said that "with this initiative, the country's performance by presenting a project that seeks to get to know the fate of Ibero-American women in the musical field and to see their problems and how we are going and where we are, trying to reduce gender inequality in the music industry."

Laura Viñuela, Spanish musicologist and academic director of the "Dysonicas" congress stated that the goal of this international meeting is that "through convertiums and common and with the experiences of many different countries with many trajectories, to figure out how women advance their profession and how they train others and to identify situations to make necessary recommendations."
