MiCultura takes "El Quixote" to Omar Park

With a fine mix of dance, music, adventure and drama, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) brought together more than 1,800 supporters of the National Ballet on three nights in a row.

A cast of 45 participants, with dancers, teachers and candidates from Panama's National Ballet, recreated this classic show "The Don Quixote Ballet, One of the Most Popular Ballet in the World That was established in Russia in 1869.

That work, full of color, breaks with the universe of supernatural and ethereal figures of the classical 19th-century ballet, to put the people of the town to stage.

The libretto is based on an episode of the second volume of The Quixote of Cervantes (chapter XXI), where the weddings of Camacho and other pleasant events continue and action focuses more on the tumultuous loves of Quiteria (Kitri) and Basil, than on the adventures of Don Quixote and Sancho with the search for his perfect love embodying by the image of Dulcinea.

Those who have been unable to attend will have an opportunity to appreciate this magic work, this Saturday, December 17th at the Domo of Omar Park at 7: 00 p.m., completely free.

Gloria Barrios, executive director of the National Ballet, said that "this year has been very important for the National Ballet for the celebration of the 50 years, in which we have had masterful presentations and where the public's response to the National Ballet has been very satisfactory, and this shows that in less than three hours tickets have been exhausted for the first presentations."
