Giselle González Villarrué and Gabriel González, Minister and Deputy Minister of Culture respectively, participated in the eleventh regular meeting of the National Disability Advisory Council (CONADIS) with the aim of monitoring public policies with respect to disability and setting up programmes and projects for this sector of the population.
At the meeting the Cultural authorities submitted the report of the Commission for Culture and Sport of projects that provide accessibility in infrastructure, artistic, sports and cultural services for the benefit of persons with disabilities run by the cultural entity and the Panamanian Institute of Sport (Pansetics).
The incumbent of Culture at the meeting noted a number of actions undertaken by the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) for people with disabilities as are the programs, expressed your art with the participation of 2,500 people with disabilities and their families, Special Education of the National Network of Orquestas and Youth Chors, Training of teachers and cultural managers "INNATE" aimed at cultural managers of music and plastic arts, guided tours and accessibility to museums and "Accessible Tourism" by providing training to personnel from the Casco Antiguo restaurants, hotels, and the old patronate for an inclusive care. "
The Deputy Minister of Culture emphasized his contribution to sports and projects currently under construction and empowerment to improve accessibility at the Colón Center of Art and Culture, enabling the Metropolitan Cultural Center, high schools at Fine Arts and Folklore of Chitre, Santiago and Changuinola and the City of the Arts Project.
The meeting of CONADIS was chaired by the Vice-President of the Republic, José Gabriel Carrizo, with the participation of his working parties and representatives of civil society organisations with regard to disability.
CONADIS is an inter-sector consultative and support body, chaired by the Executive Body, established to promote compliance with and enforcement of public policies with respect to disability.
