MiCultura currently at an event to reflect nationalist gesture of 1958

The Minister of Culture Giselle González Villarrué, together with the Minister of Education Maruja Gorday of Villalobos, participated in an act of sowing 300 flags in the City of Knowledge and an act of recollection of the 1958 Gesta as a reaffirmation of Panamanian sovereignty over the old Canal Zone.

Each year, the City of Knowledge reministiates to that gesture by sowing flags and honoring at this opportunity as an exemplary citizen to engineer and researcher Julio Escobar, who was given an recognition for his contribution to his country, his surrender and his commitment to his education in Panama.

Jorge Arosemena, executive director of the City of Knowledge, stated that the best way to honor this 1958 gesture was to create a more just, participatory and sustainable society by asking that we "build with a better society," as good citizens.

Meanwhile, Julio Escobar, speaker and banners in his speech noted that the flag is a symbol of

Identity that "for me represents not only the country where I was born but also the homeland that I chose."

"We have to create a great cultural project, promote an unpopular living play, eliminate some aspects of our culture and take our activities seriously," Escobar emphasized.
