The Minister of Culture, Giselle González Villarrué, in response to an initiative of the Chamber of Commerce of the town of Colón, that Michael Chen presides, participated in an extensive tour with national and international tourists for different tourist and cultural attractions and that focused his visit to the San Lorenzo castle.

The incumbent of MiCultura explained the province of Colón has many attractions that deserve to be known and referred to the example of San Lorenzo castle, a fortification of Spanish colonial age at the mouth of the Chagres River and that is undergoing a restoration process that has an advance of more than 85% of physical advancement.

He noted that this work will possibly be inaugurated in the next summer with the aim, not only to attract more tourists to these historic sites but also to have the San Lorenzo castle be part of the Transitory Colonial Route that includes the Casco Antiguo, Old Panama, Portobelo, San Lorenzo and the paths of the Cross Way.

The tour where they served as youth guides of the "Trip de Jenny" included an explanation of each of the outstanding points, especially those related to the changes generated by the Panama Canal's reversion with Panamanian hands since the beginning of 2000.

Also with his return to the town of Colón, Jennifer Ceballos from the "Trip de Jenny" reported some of the history of streets, buildings and monuments that also included a visit to the Paseo Marino.

Michael Chen, president of the Chamber of Commerce expressed his gratitude for the time dedicated by the Minister of Culture throughout the day and requested representatives of the media to replicate and disseminate how good Colón has.
