Vice-Minister of Culture, emphasized the importance of sign language

The Vice Minister of Culture, Gabriel González, participated in the National Assembly's event to mark several important dates for the Sorda community, such as "International Day of Sordid People," International Day of sign language "and" Day of sign interpreter, "held on September 23 and 30, respectively.

The event that began with a brief review of the history of sign tongue by Luilly Segundo at the University of the Americas Udelas included a cultural event with an "account tale" by Luzo María Frías, a reading promoter at the national direction of Cultural Rights and Citizenship at the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura).

Fairy, with the help of interpreters, she shared with the children at IHE's School of Sorcerers who were invited to have his tales "La Carpintería" and "La Cabeza de Colores" with teachings that referred to teamwork and about that they should have no envy about things that they do not have.

The Deputy Minister, Gabriel González, called on the Sorda community to continue to work to achieve visibility and to promote equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, their recognition of diversity, actual inclusion and transformation of society and the use of sign language as a means of communication.

González invited deputies to put in place laws to assist deaf people and to support the community with this type of disability and at the same time reaffirmed his commitment to continue with plans and programs to have access to the culture of persons with disabilities, as this issue is a collective issue, from public institutions to private enterprise.

MiCultura through the Office for Equal Opportunities and other administrative units of the entity conduct a number of actions to promote the participation of persons with disabilities in the different disciplines of culture.
