Multimodal theater located in the City of Las Artes will be called "Baby Torrijos"

During a tribute jointly paid by the Ministry of Culture and the Association of Teatologists of Panama, Minister Giselle González Villarrué announced that the multimodal theater built in the City of Las Artes will be called "Baby Torrijos" in recognition of the contribution of the theatelist to the development and promotion of this artistic expression in Panama.

At an emotional ceremony at the Anita Villalaz Theater and in the presence of families of Dona Áurea "Baby" Torrijos, actors and actresses, Minister González Villarrué emphasized that dedicated life to art requires not only passion for what's been done but also courage and decision and that "dona Baby Torrijos has shown with his life that that dream of many Panamanian people is possible."

From his honor, the Minister emphasized that "love for theater was transmitted to those tens and hundreds of students who have been passing through their hands" including their own family, their daughters and their granddaughters, who have created a small theater universe with their own room, independent production, children's theater and an academy of actors and have been using artists and technicians throughout the year.

"Dona Baby, you are not just an example to follow, she's the mother queen of this community of Panamanian theatologists who every day fight to carry their art, to tell their stories, to make them laugh and to make them think," emphasized Minister González Villarrué.

The town of Las Artes built at Los Llanos de Curundu will be the headquarters of national culture and will include a modern theater with capacity for 400 viewers and will be distinguished with the name of this promoter of Panamanian theatrics.

Sandy Correa, president of the Association of Teatologists of Panama also recognized the influence of Baby Torrijos on the formation and development of the theater in Panama and at the same time recognized the willingness shown by the authorities of the Ministry of Culture to support this idea to pay a tribute to Baby Torrijos.

He responded to Áurea Horta and expressed his gratitude to his mother, "Baby" Torrijos, for his tribute and recognition.
