Through musical education, Orquestas Network strengthens early childhood stimulation

The National Network of Orquestas and Youth Cores of Panama, through its Special Education Programme, is currently developing with the Programme of Early Filling (PEP) of Ancón and the Panamanian Institute of Special Habilitation (IHE) a number of activities aimed at providing basic musical knowledge to children from 6 months to 5 years old.

The Anita Villalaz Theater was a place for the Ministry of Culture through the Orchestra Network to promote the presentation of children and adolescents from the group of Ancón in the morning and from the IHHE in the afternoon, who have shown their skills in "percussion" and "shingles" as explained by the director of the special program Anabel Urbina.

Urbina explained that this programme of early stimulation for children with disabilities "care for 56 children, who have been attending an introductory course on Tuesdays and Thursday from 8: 00 a.m. to 12: 00 p.m. as a first phase of the special education program."

The performance at both concerts was with the presence of parents of families and general public who have been able to recognize with their applause the talent of these children with disabilities.

"The activity was part of the first contact at the theater, because the children have already had presentations at their school but not at a theater and this experience of making their songs at the theater motivates all members of this program," Urbina added.
