Access to Culture Programme benefits children with disabilities and their families

In co-ordination with the Office of Equal Opportunities of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and the Panamanian Institute of Special Abilitation (IHE), students from the National School of Sords (ENSOR) visited the History Museum of Panama, where they met the different periods that are part of our history.

The children accompanied with their parents and teachers and a sign-tongue interpreter visited each of the rooms of this museum at San Felipe, at Casco Antiguo where they appreciated elements of Panamanian nationality and learned about the most important struggles of Panama's history as a nation and visited the gallery of the President of the Republic.

That day was part of the agenda under the MiCultura and IHE Cultural Access Programme and was intended to offer artistic, playful and recreational activities for children and youth with disabilities.

The program of access to culture will be developed until November and includes a visit to museums, to the Metropolitan Cultural Center and Mary Arias Metropolitan Center, among others, with a view to enabling people with disabilities from IHE programs to enjoy the benefits of culture.
