The School of Dances, seedling of artists celebrates its 74th anniversary

The National School of Dances, since 1948, has been training children, youth and adults, from five to 20 years old, in different dance disciplines and this Thursday, September 8, held its 74th anniversary at the Balboa Theater with a gala where 157 dancers participated in stage challenges with different choreographies at ballet, modern dance, jazz, tap and folklor.

"It's important to celebrate and remind the student population about the history of the dance school. Today youth wants to study dance as a profession. The dance has many benefits, strengthens your identity, helps you as a therapy and you learn to be responsible to have discipline and get to know yourself," said Iguandili López, director of the national dance school.

The event to celebrate the 74 years of the School was attended by personalities that were important to the school, including dance teachers Ana Cela Smith, María Rebeca Vivar, Miriam Cedeño, Gloria Barrios and Iveth De Martí.

Minister of Education Maruja Gorday of Villalobos congratulated the School for its 74 years and recognized the work of teachers and dancers and urged parents to believe in their children that they are worth their while.
