Colón Tourist Baccillers strengthen knowledge about Panama City Casco Antiguo

Two hundred and twenty students from the Gatuncillo Secondary School Tourism Bacciler from Colón Province conduct a tour of the historic centre of Panama City directed by tourism guides from the Casco Antiguo office (OCA) of the Ministry of Culture, who have taken him to various attractions of the San Felipe correction.

Students who once complete their career will promote Panama as a tourist destination will become the spokesperson to highlight the best of the country through history, culture, artistic events and all the elements that have highlighted the international isthma.

On this academic tour, students and teachers were able to visit the History Museum, the Cathedral, Herrera and France squares as well as the Basilica Cathedral Santa María La Antigua, St. Joseph Church (Golden Altar) and the Santo Domingo Convent, among other representative locations of the Casco Antiguo.

The OCA tour program offers entities and organizations different routes within San Felipe with the aim of familiarizing visitors with the benefits offered by this site as a World Heritage Site of the UNESCO in 1997.

Roderick Máías, a tourist guide to the OCA, points out that "the training of history and tourism professionals is very important to Panama because we are the ones who represent the country and that's why we have to bring them to this new generation true and precise information so that through their narrative they can delight the national and foreign tourist they come to know."
