MiCultura paid tribute to Panamanian literature

To mark his centennial and share the importance of the cultural legacy that these well-known writers have put into our homeland, his ministry of Culture, through his national leadership of the arts, paid tribute to Ramón H. Jury, Carlos F. Chengmarín, Humberto Ricord, Jorge Turner, Carlos Manuel Gasteazoro and Fermín Azcárate.

The tribute was held at the Amelia Denis de Icaza parlor, at the International Book Fair where the biographical reviews of the literature were read and fragments of his works, such as "El Drevan," by Ramón H. Jurado, "La graces and misfortunes of Chico Perico," by Carlos Francisco Changmarín and "Viento de agua" by Jorge Turner, were dramatized.

Students from the theater group "El Drevan" of the USMA, directed by Professor Félix Gómez, represented each of the writers and continued with the reading of the fragments of "Introduction to his manual" by Humberto Ricord, "Compendium of History of Panama of Sosa and Arce" by Carlos Manuel Gasteazoro and "Vida," who earned second place in the second version of the National Prize for Literature Ricardo Miró 1943 by Fermin Azcaate.

Isabel Burgos, National Director of The Arts of MiCultura gave parchment to families of writers who are "recognized for their cultural heritage and for contributing to the enrichment of their letters."
