Panama National Ballet celebrates his golden weddings with "Giselle"

Since his first performance in August 1972, the National Ballet has been growing and has been enabling his dancers to have a national and international training and have been recognised as showing the high level of art that has been achieved to such an extent that many have been elected to represent Panama in different international dance competitions.

With regard to the work "Giselle," Gloria Barrios, executive director of the National Ballet of Panama emphasized that "the cast is preparing with all love and with a great deal of discipline. A classic such as this, requires a very thorough work."

Barrios also stated that "this is one of the ballet of the world's classical repertoire and any professional company such as Panama's National Ballet has a responsibility to do this best and we will do so to share this ballet with our public as part of our anniversary gala that will be held at the National Theater."

On the occasion of his fifty-year celebration, Barrios emphasized that "this company has been training several generations of dancers and that's why this celebration is of great importance and responsibility, because it's continuing with the work that has been done during these years.

Activities to be noted to celebrate the 50 years include free presentations at the National Theater from 18 to 21 August, a travelling exhibition about the history of the national ballet that can be seen at Hotel Bristol Panama, the Juan Manuel Cedeño gallery of MiCultura, commercial centers and so on.

Meanwhile, Giselle González Villarrué, during his speech at his press conference at Hotel Bristol Panama, thanked dancers, directors, choreographers and the entire National Ballet team for their vision, enthusiasm and courage to carry forward the dreams that have built the history of this dance company.

"Panama is one of the few countries with state ballet companies in Latin America, this has been worth an important investment throughout these years, and this has been definitely worth it!," emphasized the head of the Panamanian cultural portfolio, inviting those present to their scheduled activities.

For his part, Evelyn Cáceres, market manager at Hotel Bristol Panama, a company that joins as a sponsor of this celebration mentioned that "we are a place with more than 25 years in the art of Panamanian hospitality, a hotel that supports hundreds of percent of art and culture, is part of our vision and our pillars, so since we have been introduced we have decided to give all the support to this project because it's important to highlight the 50 years of ballet and share this celebration."

About the National Ballet

They have been part of the Panama National Ballet and have been distinguished dancers as Nitzia Cucalón de Martín, Julio Arauz, Raisa Gutiérrez, Joyce Vives, Armando Villamil, Anacela Smith, Graciela Guillén, Andrés Nieto, Maruja Herrera, Lilah Troitiño, Sasha Adamovic, Marek Cholewa and Cristina Quijano.

They have also shared experiences with widely known international figures such as: Vasily Medvedev, Jelko Yurecha, Valentina Kozlova, Stanislav Feco, David Makhateli, Charidad Martínez, Fernando Hurtado, Pedro Martin, Marek Cholewa and Eduardo Blanco.

Melissa Gaona, Julieta del Castillo, Yahir Castro, Edgar Santamaría and the first dancer Mau Navarro have been part of the group of dancers who have represented Panama in recent months, who have been logged at each of their performances by their stage.
