MiCultura joins with the celebration of the 503 year old Panama

The first town founded by the Spanish people on the peaceful coast and marking our history as a meeting place for the different routes and international trade, celebrates 15 August 503 years of Founding.
To celebrate the date, the Old Panama Board with the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) will offer a number of activities for the whole family, where as well as visiting the Archaeological Site, the public will have an opportunity to enjoy artistic and cultural performances, an artisan and gastronomic exhibition and several recreational activities for the children.
The program, which starts on 4 August, includes several activities such as literary tertulies, tells tales, workshops of painting, photo and art, theatrics tours, stage with artistic, musical and folklore performances, sale of crafts, plants, food, beverages and other attractions. There will also be many activities and workshops for children, promoted by the Educational Project of the Old Panama Patronate that sponsors Banistmo, as well as by the Ministry of Culture, the Mayor's Office of Panama, the Old Panama Library, the Tourism Authority of Panama and the Ministry of Environment.
MiCultura will join this family activity in commemoration of the Founding of Panama City, on 13 and 14 with the participation of consumer artisan and other accessories such as textiles and jewelry as well as other entrepreneurs that are part of our creative industry database.
Similarly, Panama's Network of Youth Orchestra and Chors will conduct a special presentation with a repertoire prepared for the occasion. Also through the Office of Equal Opportunities we will have with the talent of the singer Luis Mario, who will share his most recent themes. We will also have a class of salsa so that children, youth and adults can learn the basic steps of this genre.
The children will also have their place with workshops of painting and crafts and with salsa dance classes to have fun and enjoy different artistic expressions.
On the other hand, with the interest that the Panamanian family can visit the archaeological site there will be an open day for nationals and residents from 8: 30 a.m. to 7: 30 p.m. and on August 15, as a tradition, the archaeological site will open its doors free of charge to all public.
"Old Panama is part of our history, it's about a prosperous colonial town, about the beginning of the great city we have today. But it's also about looting and about the confrontation between great powers at the moment. It's all about history and knowing about it's about our culture as well," said Gabriel González, Vice Minister of Culture.
"Through time, the now Ministry of Culture, before the INAC has had a close relationship with the Foundation and has at no time hesitated to join activities with artisan samples, folkloric presentations and other expressions that reaffirm our panamenity," emphasized Gabriel González.
That colonial ensemble was declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a historic heritage of mankind in 2003.
