6 years changing lives through music

Currently, 5,000 children and youth are part of the Panama Youth Orchestra and Chorus Network that develops the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) at the national level with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and in partnership with the Youth Ibeorchestras programme.

The Network, which this July 12 celebrates 6 years of transformed lives through music, aims to support the construction of a culture of peace and the creation of secure spaces for children and youth with an emphasis on vulnerability through collective teaching of music.

The Network has four educational programs: Musical initiation, Orchestra, Coral and Special Education, the latter with care for children, youth and adults with disabilities.

Ariel Britos, president of Iberorquestas, who conduct a tour of Central America emphasized "to feel kindly surprised about the level of progress and growth that the Network has had, prepared a brotherhood through music, with which we secure the future of our Iberoamerica."

Giselle González Villarrué, Minister of Culture, stated that "music is a vehicle to transform the lives of families and communities, it's the engine of development of our countries, it's to leave a legacy to our nations and today with" The Network "we have undertaken and the end of 2022 we wish to have 10,000 members."

The Network have modules at David, Chiriquí, Changuinola, Bocas del Toro, Santiago and La Peña, Veraguas, Chitre at Herrera, La Villa at Los Santos and Penonomé and Aguadulce at Coclé, La Chorro at Panama West and San Miguelito and Chepo and Panama Metro at Panama and Alto de los Lagos at Colón and at Guna Yala.
