Children of Wines Upstairs Enjoy the History of Casco Antiguo

About 60 children from the Olas community up from Capira District participated in a training tour of Casco Antiguo's sites as part of the second phase of the program "Casco Antiguo Visits you" undertaken by the Casco Antiguo's office (OCA) at the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura).

The program that was re-activated after two years as a result of the pandemic aims to publicize the history and benefits of the historic centre of Panama City to children from communities with difficult access that have been unable to get to know this place with more than three centuries of history.

At an initial stage, personnel of the co-ordination of sociocultural programs of the OCA have moved to the previously chosen community to bring them "The Casco Antiguo" where children have an opportunity to learn through lectures and images, by guides and social educators of the OCA, leading them to an ameno run through the sites, ending with old-fashioned games and a painting and drawing workshop where the small people reflect what they have learned.

The local authorities later have been moved to get them to know the monuments, churches, museums and squares they have been shown at their visit.

The second stop of this program will be to the Comarca Emberá in the province of Darién, with care for about 300 children from communities in this region with the support of SENAFRONT.
