PANAMA TO INDIVIDUAL MEETING ON CINEMATOGRAFIC INDUSTRY

The progress of the work committees established to discuss issues such as training, promotion, regulation, circulation and diversity in the audiovisual and film industry was the subject of meetings held by the Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities of Iberoamerica (CAACI) in Tenerife, Spain.

The forty-first regular meeting of CAACI and also the twenty-first special meeting of the Ibermedia Intergovernmental Council were held at that meeting, where Panama was represented by the film office (DICINE) of the Ministry of Culture.

The meeting that was held from 11 to 13 May at the town of San Cristóbal saw progress from the committees of work on the issues dealt with as well as the adoption of a declaration to work with actions to promote gender equity in industry in member countries.

The Ibermedia community has been composed of 25 countries, of which Panama has been a member since 2006, enabling the country to have access to an exchange of best practice and mutual cooperation to promote the development and growth of Panamanian cinematography.

Sheila González, director of DICINE reaffirms that "in Panama, the film and audiovisual industry presents many challenges and we have a special interest in promoting the development of this industry, professionalizing the sector with trained personnel, expanding the markets for displaying our production and promoting and promoting our cinema."

"With these actions we hope to be able to cross more and more boundaries at regional and Ibero-American level, seeking to capture an audience that will be capable of viewing and reflecting our cultural diversity," González added.
