Dr. Marixa Lasso, Director of the Research, History, Anthropological and Cultural Center (CIHAC-AIP) at the Ministry of Culture was invited to participate in the Book Fair of Bogotá (FILBO) and will discuss the work that the Center will conduct and present his book "Missing Stories of the Panama Canal."

On Tuesday, April 19, Dr. Lasso will report on the work of the Centre at a meeting with dean and directors of the faculties and departments of two prestigious Colombian universities.

The meeting will be with leaders of the National University, which is described as best in the public sector and that of Los Andes as among the best in the private sphere.

The following day, Wednesday, April 20, in co-ordination with the Panama Embassy in Colombia and FILBO, Dr. Lasso will conduct an event at the Gran Salon Ecopetrol with the Colombian historian Juan Carlos Florez about his work "Lost Stories of the Panama Canal."

Panama's ambassador to Colombia, Liliana Fernández explained that FILBO was the second most important fair after that held in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The Panamanian diplomat emphasized that for this legation work in "cultural diplomacy is very important" and that as they have been shown to other Panamanian professionals in the world of music and gastronomy, literary work is now very important "because with Colombians there are many more things that unite us, but those that separate us."

That's why for the Panamanian embassy in Bogotá it's important to show "those things that suit us but at the same time make us different" and have an opportunity for Panamanian writers to show their works at FILBO is a window to "give information about Panama."
