MiCultura OPEN TO THE WATER PLAN

The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) added to inter-institutional actions aimed at raising awareness about the value and importance of conserving water through the launch of the National Programme for Water Culture.

The Secretary General, José Ismael Herrera, representing MiCultura, participated in the launch that forms part of the National Water Council's Strategic Plan (CONAGA 202020-2024) and that aims to coordinate actions to raise the awareness of men and women about the value of water.

Herrera stated that "as part of this program, we advanced with the wind to favor, as our actions are designed through education, communication, culture and citizen participation, in the attainment of the goals proposed for the promotion of the conservation of water catchment areas."

"To be part of CONAGUA with other ministries and state entities allows us to contribute to the construction of a path to understanding the" culture of water "that as culture are a human right," added the Secretary General.

To contribute to this Plan, MiCultura promotes to create awareness about water conservation and put into place the work entitled "WITH WATER, POWER...? Without WATER? Think about it..." written by Professor Benjamin Ávila and that will be presented in the capital town and in the provinces of Chiriquí, Veraguas, Herrera and Coclé.

CONAGUA includes the Ministries of the Environment, Economics and Finance, Agricultural Development, Health, the National Public Services Authority, the Panama Canal Authority and the National Aqueduct and Retirement Institute.
