MiCultura FORTALECE CULTURAL POLICY AFTER AGREEMENT

The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and the Andrés Bello Convention Organization for Educational, Scientific, Technology and Cultural Integration have agreed a partnership agreement with a view to highlighting "projects and actions focused on the development of a sustainable culture."

In relation to the signing of this convention, the incumbent of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro stated that it will have the support of the body on specific issues that for Panama are fundamental as is the establishment of the "Satellite Cultural Account" and the "Cultural Information System."

He added, that this firm will give continuity to the reengineering work that's still pending, as well as the support in the research part that's been stopped since the death of Dr. Reina Torres de Araúz in 1982 but that's been regained in this administration through the creation of the Research, Historical, Anthropological and Cultural Center.

Meanwhile, the legal representative of the Convention Andrés Bello, Delva Batista Mendieta catalogued as "historic" the signing of an agreement that allows the organization to be part of the "vision of this project: Culture-Panama."

He recalled that when the Andrés Bello Convention was established 47 years ago, it was born with a focused approach to science, education and technology but emphasized "that the basis of the organization is sitting in Culture."

The convention will, among other specific points, make it necessary to conduct technical and consultancy studies that strengthen today's needs, to propose and develop research projects or other studies that rescue or identify cultural intervention areas using the global cultural indicators provided by UNESCO (2020).

Also, to share materials, documents, information, research and knowledge that will be useful for the purposes of this Convention and to share and promote digitally with respect to the issues, initiatives, work and results of the implementation of this Convention.
