"The Bicentennial Torch Farewell from Anton and Arrives to West Panama"

The Torcha 200 wishes for Panama, continues on its way to its destination, this time leaving behind the town of Antón, received in the districts of Capira and Chorro where it was welcomed with great joy among drummers and murga.

On the morning of November 25, the torch was delivered from the hands of Mayor Antonero, Eric Domínguez and received by the Governor of Western Panama, Sindy Smith, who later gave it to Mayor of the District of San Carlos, María Elena Sánchez.

Following his tour of the main avenues of the districts of San Carlos and Chame, Mayor Abdul Juliao Antadilla, Mayor of Chame, municipality personnel, officials of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), students and public at large, fired the flame and by caravan through the Inter-American Way gave up close to the Saxony bridge, to Jorge Ramos, Mayor of the Municipality of Capira, the flame that forms part of the celebration of these 200 years.

Custodian by the Benemérit Fire Corps, she followed her way to Gilberto Brid Park, continuing onto Toribio Aparicio Avenue to the Church of San Isidro Labrador and ending up at the auditorium of Capira, where a small cultural event was held.

At the hour of the afternoon, Tomas Velásquez Mayor of La Chorro and Sendy Smith Governor of Panama West, accompanied by local authorities, receive the Torcha from Jorge Ramos, Mayor of Capira at the Pireceté bridge.

The patriotic day continued with a cheerful tour of the main avenues of the district, and finally reached the Amphitheater Lucia Chia Ureña, Parque Libertador de La Chorro, where an artistic cultural program was organized, accompanied by folkloric activities, sale of crafts and artistic performances with national talent to celebrate this historic date.

These activities have been organized by the Government of Panama West in co-ordination with the Ministry of Culture and the municipalities of each district, with the aim of highlighting their history, culture and traditions from different communities, through the Torcha tour.

On Saturday, November 27, the Bicentennial Torch: 200 wishes for Panama continue their journey and surrender to the mayor of Arraijan Rollhyns Rodriguez near the Maribel bridge and then continue to advance along the main avenues and reach Panama City.
