Panamanian moola in a global catwalk

The Ministry of Culture participated from a single evening filled with fashion, art and culture with the launch of the collection GALU DUGBIS spring summer 2021-2022 by the Panamanian designer RULA LAKAS, at the headquarters of the Patio Andaluz of the Ministry of Government.

That parade inspired by Guna ethnicity, uses the nobility genres and magic hands filled with all of Guna's ancestral wisdom that have worked tirelessly with the best textiles unique to this collection never before seen.

The designer Rula Lakas, Panamanian with Hellenic roots, graduated from Social Communication with a specialist in Public Relations, told us during his launch, "that his name Molaks pTY comes from the union of the word MOLA, that's the spear point of my brand, being the textile art I use to manufacture my designs, as well as with my name pTY's apes."

That collection's called GALU DUGBIS. GALU that means holy enclosure and Dugbis, that means geometric figures. Galu Dugbis, in ancient history, is said to be the house where GUNA's art goes. That's why the oldest moils have geometric forms and are related with femininity tells the mythology that the MOLAS have been made to scare all malefficiencies, added the designer Lakas.

The mission with MolaksPTY is to make our textile art known to the whole world so that it will be valued, with our accessories made each different, so that every type of woman can wear them with modern or reserved tastes with sober colors.

The designs are characterized by their artisan work couture, giving them a turn to fashion with an autochthonous flavour as "La mola" admired by the whole world.

That presentation was made through an inter-institutional collaboration within the framework of the Bicentennial of Panama's Independence of Spain with the Ministry of Government, the Ministry of Social Development and MiCultura through the National Handicrafts Directorate.
