My Culture and National Theater's Board sign cooperation agreement

He responded to the Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro and to the legal representative of the National Theater Board, Juan David Morgan to seal with his signatures an agreement that assigns many responsibilities to his Board.

Following his signing, Minister Aguilar Navarro emphasized that this convention was "clear proof that when there was a good will for dialogue, the result would always be to come up with agreements that would benefit Panama."

He added that at MiCultura there's a principle that "The National Theater should at all times be a space where all Panamanian and Panamanian people, under equal conditions, are happy to be able to visit and that our multicultural and diverse society feel represented in the contents of events that come about there."

For his part, Juan David Morgan as president of the Board referred to as "a really very important moment that marks a milestone, because it happens after a long journey that was more prolonged because of the pandemic."

During that period, Morgan noted, differences have been overcome and confidence-building that's what's required for "things like these to work."

He added that the convention isn't only important for the responsibility assumed by the Board but that "we're sending a message to the community that when there's confidence and understanding things work."

Those responsibilities for the Board are to manage, safeguard, preserve, protect, restore as necessary and re-open the National Theater as well as maintenance and security of the iconic building with its movable and real property.

MiCultura will have the responsibility to transfer to the Board the budgetary and financial allocations for the proper conduct of its functions and to put in place operational arrangements with the Board for the conduct of programmes with a view to the maintenance, valuation, operation and management of the Theater, among other functions.

The Board, inter alia, undertakes to care for, safeguard and manage with care by a good father of his or her families his or her property and property, to conduct maintenance and restoration work and to have his or her management plan referred to and approved by MiCultura, to make public the schedule of activities and budget implementation and to manage public and private funds to be referred to the Board and other property transferred to him or her by the Ministry.

It also established responsibilities for both parties with regard to budgetary assignment and management so that from the funds that the Ministry will assign to the Board, it can only use 30% for payment of plate and the rest will be for investment, restoration, maintenance and maintenance of the building built in 1908 and representing a cultural heritage.
