Conference on Statistics of the performing arts

with the participation of public and private government agencies, representatives of academies and cooperation agencies, trade union leaders and civil society, the Ministry of Culture presented the conference shaping the statistics of the performing arts, about the Panama Satellite Cultural Account (CSCP), in virtual format.

That activity forms part of the cycle of conferences by the MiCultura Planning Office with the aim of showing the background and implementation of the Inter-Agency Plan of the Panama Cultural Satellite Account.

To this meeting, a group of experts have been convened and have been involved in the implementation of the Satellite account of cultural agencies of the region, including Juan Carlos Oyarzun, head of the Section for Cultural and Cultural Statistics of the Under-Secretariat of Cultures and Arts of Chile and Diana Marcela Rey, consultant to the Inter-American Development Bank (BID) as well as intergovernmental agencies that have been leading this process with positive results

The results of this first phase are: The identification of technical, political and financial needs, the formulation of a battery of 52 core indicators and a Plan of Work for Indicators Measurement was also established.

To the deputy ministers of culture, Gabriel González, the implementation of the Satellite Account is a great opportunity for Panamanian and Panamanian "that will allow us to dimensionate, the contribution of their processes of creation, production, transmission, access and approval of their creative goods and services and its impact on gross domestic product (GDP)."

"His participation will allow us to rely on the experiences obtained by successfully projecting us about the impact that properly organized cultural activities have on the Panamanian economy," said the deputy minister, evaluating the participation of regional representatives.

To implement this project in Panama, the Ministry of Culture established an interdisciplinary team with technical personnel from the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), the Inter-American Development Bank BID and the active participation of public and private institutions.

The Satellite account allows a quantitative analysis of the contribution to the formation, creation, dissemination and consumption of the different manifestations of the creative show that make up them and decision-making that will be made from both public and private level.

The goal of this line of action is to measure the 11 sectors of the creative ecosystem identified as an issue for analysis of the Panama Cultural Satellite Account and to respond to challenges challenges with the production of Panama's cultural statistics.
