New reading centers add up to the Colmena Plan

Ten new Colmena reading centers have been opened by the Ministry of Culture in the districts of Calobre and Cañazas of the province of Veraguas as as part of the actions of the National Government through the Colmena Plan and with these new spaces have reached 35% of the goal of installing 300 at national level.

According to reports, with these new squares that have been opened in the province of Veraguas, 116 spaces have been added and at the same time 556 mediators have been trained and have been advanced with the aim of bringing literary works to areas with difficult access and guaranteeing the cultural rights of all citizens.

The Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro, participated in his work tour at Veraguas and accompanied his president, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, to give his seven reading spaces as well as his credits to artisans from different regresments of the town of Cañapas.

Meanwhile, while his tour of Calobre District, his deputy ministers of culture Gabriel González, participated in the opening of three centers at the Corridments of San José, Barnique and La Laguna, benefiting more than 200 families.

"The idea is to be able to fulfill these 300 cordments and that the work we have been doing from the Ministry of Culture will reach more communities, so that you through the books and reading can gain more knowledge and transform them into art, as an example of that, music," said Deputy Minister González.

"It's our interest that people of all ages enjoy these copies, all winners of different literature awards and that some of you can some day participate in these contest and be authors of some of these books," González added.
