MiCultura participates in Colón Provincial Board

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and José Ismael Herrera have been received as a room at the regular meeting of the Colón Provincial Council, held at the Reg of Nuevo Chagres, Chagres District with the aim of making known the plans, programs and projects currently being developed by the cultural entity in this important place of the country.

Herrera first detailed the work that MiCultura has been performing in social terms as the opening of the ten Colmenal Reading Centres with which Colón already counts. Also, as well as the training sessions that are undertaken through our regional headquarters in this province so that more and more artisan will be registered with this program.

The Secretary-General also referred to projects with regard to infrastructure and restoration of sites of heritage interest, such as: The Fort of San Lorenzo, the Monumental Set of Portobelo and its imposing Customs.

He also highlighted the advances that have been made for the rescue of the old Abel Bravo College and will become the Center for Art, Culture and Creative Industries at Colón.

With regard to the promotion of Culture, she also referred to the offer of courses and technicians offered by MiCultura through the Centre for Higher and Folklore Studies (CESBAF) at Colón and to partnerships with other entities to train colonians at regional level.

During this Courtesy of a Room, the Secretary General of MiCultura responded to the concerns of the representatives of the different cordments of the province, who participated in this session and in which Ismael Herrera, reaffirmed his commitment to work together as local authorities to develop works for the well-being of the public, as referred to by the president's governance plan, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen.

In his visit to the Chagres Reg, MiCultura, with an association with the National Library of Panama, moved the "Bibliobus," where the little ones with their parents were amused with the readers and accounts of the monitors of the direction of Cultural Rights and Citizenship as well as challenges and games to stimulate reading by small and young people and that they can make use of the Colmenan Reading Center.

It should be noted that prior to the meeting of local authorities, an ecclesiastical ceremony was held at the church of the place, at which congo dances and costumes dominated as part of the celebration of the festivities of his patron saint San Lorenzo that was held as date 10 August.

At the end of this meeting of local authorities, Eugenio Delgado, president of the Colón Provincial Board and representative of the Health Retirement in the Chagres District, stated that MiCultura was invited to have been put into place because we believe that our region throughout the province has a great potential to develop as far as culture and tourism are concerned. "We definitely know that this is a work that goes hand in hand with the government and that there's mainly an investment, budget to bring better days to the settlers, for example as the crafts that we can promote through QzxzqQ and our beauty," said ATqQ.

María Galván, representative of Nuevo Chagres, expressed his gratitude for his visit to MiCultura and supported with his bibliobus as part of his cultural activity that was intended to be advanced for the district.
At the same time, the cultural authority indicated that the initiative to have Colón conduct its advice at different locations of the province was highly gratified as this means that the community can participate and give its views, and that it strengthens that governance, for the good interrelationship between central, local and community, as the goal of the National Government.
