MiCultura RINDE REPORT TO BID ON PROJECT AVANCE

The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) has committed 53% of the 45 million dollars of financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (BID) to the contract "Support for the Conservation and Management of Cultural and Natural Heritage PN-L1146."
The information come from the report submitted by the Minister of Culture (MiCultura), Carlos Aguilar Navarro to the representative of the Inter-American Development Bank Group in Panama (BID) Rocío Medina Bolívar to get to know about the development of projects that have been financed by the international body.
Under this financing, MiCultura has held more than 23 procurement processes with contracts run and under implementation.
The meeting with his task force was focused on "working with the public sector, in particular with culture to find solutions to build the conditions to advance the generation of progress and well-being," stated the incumbent of MiCultura.
The progress of different works under BID-financed projects has a direct impact on surrounding communities as they generate jobs that represent income and help to reactivate the economies of sectors where projects such as Portobelo, San Lorenzo and others are developed.
Minister Aguilar Navarro also introduced the need for new projects, such as the creation of the National History Museum and the development of the National Culture Plan as a participatory process for public policy development in the area of culture.
He also recognized the BID's support as a strategic partner in his actions to rescue property, strengthen the Casco Antiguo's office, especially with regard to his immediate actions for the activation of the Creative District in Panama and the Cultural and Creative Industries that contribute to economic recovery and tourism development.
Ms Rocío Medina Bolívar reiterated the recognition of the progress of the Ministry of Culture and BID's interest to continue with institutional support that will generate synergies with the production sectors of the country and with private enterprise.
The meeting was also attended by Rocío Medina Bolívar, an IDB representative in Panama, Mr. Jesús Navarrete, an IDB's Office for Program and by MyCultura Yessenia Sánchez, Special Projects Director, Alexandra Shelderup, Director of International Cooperation, Fernando Díaz, Director of the Old Town Office (OCA), María Luisa Lindo, Director of Legal Advice and Itzela Quiroz, Assistant Director of Cultural Heritage.
