Private Company and Government Reunited to Reactivate Plaza Santa Ana

The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) was a participant of the launch event at which a group of investors and community leaders announced the project to work to revitalize and rescue the Plaza Santana Ana, a place declared a national historic monument.
The plan will be integrated with one of the most ambitious projects that MiCultura promotes through the National Management of Creative and Cultural Industries known as the "Creative District" involving the cordments of San Felipe, Santa Ana and El Chorrillo, said Marú Gálvez as National Director of Creative Economics,
The civil servants welcomed the initiative of this group whose intention helps to form a strategic partnership to unify the three cordments referred to as a historic centre, advanced through the living heritage project of the Inter-American Development Bank (BID).
Gálvez added that it's MiCultura's wish "that the investments that the public and private sector are making will help improve the quality of life of its local inhabitants because they have to be the benefits."
Thus, Simone Di Giovanni, an Italian investor, emphasized that this union wants to achieve foreign investment with a view to achieving "better lighting, ornament and safety, to give them a solution to homeless people and to gradually re-activate cultural events, folklore, businesses that drive them to better quality of life and their surroundings."
Fernando Díaz, director of the office of the Casco Antiguo (OCA) emphasized that this project should coincide with the institutional plans that this project has as part of the monumental ensemble of the Casco Antiguo and part of the strategy of the Ministry of Culture is to promote the development of the creative and an economy around these industries in all the recordments that make up the historic centre.
The historic square of Santa Ana was at the centre of important political events and struggles for sovereignty, institutional and democracy and was declared a national historic monument by law 18 of 1984.
