Bocas del Toro and Veraguas open their first Reading spaces

Children, youth and adults will have access to a number of Spanish authors who have been winners of the best literary competitions of the country with the opening of seven reading spaces at rectimatations in the provinces of Bocas del Toro and Veraguas that are covered by the program of the Colmena Plan run by the National Government.

The Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro, at the Community Labour Tour (GTC) in Changuinola, held by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen gave to each of the community leaders of the La Gloria Reforms in the Changuinola, Guamí and French Quarter District of Admiral, the number of 120 books, that will be part of these "reading spaces."

At Bocas del Toro, MiCultura will set up 19 mini libraries and have been trained to date with 15 reading mediators that will have the task of applying with readers different animation dynamics and conduct initiatives such as reading circles and workshops among others.

Meanwhile at Veraguas, the deputy minister of culture, Gabriel González, opened up spaces at four cordments of the district of Las Palmas; Las Palmas dadera, Manuel Amador Tereros, El Prado and Rincón, where Edilberto Adames, mayor of the district of Las Palmas, expressed his satisfaction with the opportunity to have this program, which will fill with knowledge and strengthen the reading of children, youth and adults.

Alex Vega, regional director of MiCultura at Veraguas, stated that to achieve the goal, we visited the 38 veraguas rectiminations referred to in the Colmena Plan to prepare with local authorities and reading mediators these locations that will give communities an opportunity to inculcate their reading habit and to provide and support our children who are thirsty for activities.

That's why MiCultura is pleased to give up the first four spaces of twelve that have been spotted in the district of Las Palmas and with this opening the MiCultura Regional team in Veraguas continues to work on the programs of the Colmena Plan that exist for the province of Veraguas, added Vega.

On these reading spaces, the incumbent of MiCultura, Carlos Aguilar Navarro has emphasized that they are "the beginning where every Panamanian and Panamanian as small as they are or as an adult as they are can fully exercise their cultural rights as human rights. They really seek to provide access to reading and to express ourselves for our children, youth and adults as a basis for a more fair and equitable country, so that there will be justice and equity."
