My Culture participates in the integral development of Portobelo

As part of the inter-institutional committee of the Government Plan, Minister Carlos Aguilar Navarro and part of the technical team of the Ministry of Culture conducted a work tour to the Portobelo community to concrete projects and participate in a special for the integral development of this area of the country.
The program for this visit included the recording of a greeting for a special by the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP), for the virtual festival of masks and devils congos this year 2021, with the aim of extracting the artistic and cultural manifestations of this town.
Also the MiCultura team through Maru Gálvez Director of Creative Economics, participated from a meeting with authorities of Tourism, MiAmbiente and Portobelo Bahia Foundation to exchange ideas and contribute to the community development projects that are being undertaken through the Ministry of Environment and the loan of the Inter-American Development Bank (BID) as part of a cultural and natural conservation heritage.
For his part Yessenia Sánchez, National Director of Special Projects at BID commented that The Company Administrador de Proyectos de construcción, S.A. (APORCOSA), who currently works for the restoration of the Portobelo Customs, has already submitted the plan and all the formal documentation for the next week to get back to work in this building and soon public events will be made for the restoration of the fort.
Another activity with which they participated was the production of paintings by the Colón Free Zone to the Panama Tourism Authority for the refurbishment and embellishment of 85 houses in Portobelo, based on the congoes, as a tourist jewel of the Caribbean.
Mr. Aguilar Navarro, during his performance of his paintings, noted "Today the National Government through his interinstitutional work, both with the restoration of his heritage works and with his training of his people at his different jobs in creative industries and at his painting of his houses and with his complete project for Colón, and with his Government's and human rights plan, his people have been following up with his more than 500 years of struggle here.
The wealth that exists here at Portobelo and that's hoping to be exploited in the best sense of the word for the benefit of communities is the work that comes ahead and that's what we demand and commands President Laurentizo Cortihen to do with this inter-institutional work. That's what this event is about, recognition of this living heritage that has been care for this cultural heritage both material and intangible.
The inputs were submitted by Giovanni Ferrari General Manager of the Colón Free Zone to the General Manager of the ATP, Ivan Eskildsen, at the event the Governor of Colón Irasema Dale, Mayor of Portobelo Carlos Chavarría, representative of Portobelo Mario Ortiz, co-Governor of Colón Jorge Vilanueva, Jesús Lemus president of the Portobelo Chamber of Commerce and the Deputy Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning José Batista.
