Reading spaces come to the province of Los Santos with the Colmena Plan

Six Retirement Spaces were inaugurated in the province of Los Santos by the Ministry of Culture, benefiting children and adults from the region as part of the actions of the Colmena Plan put forward by the Government of President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen.

Minister Carlos Aguilar Navarro put into place Readings spaces as: Bayano, Bajo de Güera and Mogollón in the districts of Las Tablas and Macaracas, Province of Los Santos.

At the opening of these spaces, the incumbent of Culture stated that he expects these sites to "be not only to read but also to become spaces for cultural promotion where you can interplay and exercise what we call cultural rights that are human rights."

MiCultura has been scheduled to open up 300 reading spaces throughout the national territory with more than 35,000 books by Panamanian authors, all winners of national literature contest, and these spaces will be run by communal boards and community volunteers trained as reading promoters and cultural cheerleaders.

The mayor of Macaracas, Elieber Cortés emphasized the importance of the benefits of the Colmena Plan, because "it strengthens knowledge and gives opportunity to young people to get up to date and strengthen their knowledge."

For his part, Gabriel González, Vice Minister of Culture, emphasized that this program was a commitment that President Laurentino Cortizo had "to benefit, not only many children but people of all ages who have always wanted to enjoy a small library in their communities."

The Retirement Spaces at La Tronosa, El Cortezo and Altos de Güera, at Tonosí and Province of Los Santos, have been disturbed by his deputy ministers.

The Retirement Spaces program consists of the creation of small community libraries so that people from remote communities have access to literature. Each Retirement Space has a collection of 120 books to start with and will be cared for by volunteers from the same communities.

It's important to note that, during this day, Minister Aguilar also gave copies through his National Handicrafts Section to 20 artisan people from the region.

Massiel Frías, who received his accreditation as an artisan from the Bayano community, thanked the authorities and the National Government for giving answers and called on other artisan to sign up for the program.
