They train volunteers for reading spaces as part of the Colmena Plan

The Ministry of Culture, through the Cultural Rights and Citizenship Section, jointly with the Regional Coordination of San Miguelito, held the second training and training workshop for 17 volunteers for the opening of reading spaces that will be developed as part of the national government's Colmena Plan's reach.

The volunteers, who form as reading mediators, have been given some basic tools for animation so that they can bring local members closer to one of their main cultural rights as reading through The Reading Spaces.

Cultural promoters of the Regional Coordination of San Miguelito also participated and will be part of the team that will measure and follow up the program.

That first approach with reading mediators from the San Miguelito District will be performed at the recordments of Mateo Ituri, Belisario Porra and Amelia Denis de Icaza.

To Enrique Noel, National Director of Cultural Rights and Citizenship, the participation of the Ministry of Culture in the national government's so-called hive plan is considering work from art and culture.

"The reading spaces involve not only giving a book, providing a small community library, but training staff as community mediators and as oral narrators that can have an interaction with the people of these communities, we have to put a link with reading at different points of the hive plan."

On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, the Ministry of Culture opened its first reading space at the Redeemer Church of St. Miguelito, where this small community library will be set up.

The Colmena Plan aims to care for the 300 cordments with the highest incidence of multidimensional poverty and aims at combating the poverty and inequality that put Panamanian society at an end.
