MiCultura adds up organisations to integrate table for re-opening cultural and entertainment activities

The Ministry of Culture joined with more trade unions and cultural organisations to join the work table that aims at a gradual re-opening of cultural and entertainment activities.

During his sixth work meeting with 13 duly accredited artists' trade union organisations that met to exchange and contribute to a proposal for an Artist's Act in Panama, Ellis Newman, director of artistic education at the Ministry of Culture, invited them to join the work table that was activated to propose economic recovery initiatives with the authorities of the Ministry of Health and other state institutions.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Coosemuppa, Amas, Asteroc, UNAP, REFC Panama, SITMas, ASDAP, ASTEP, Red Crea, Sadanpa and UPPA, who were accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Development and specialized personnel from the University of Panama at the Inter-American School of Social Dialogue, Tripartiism and Conflict Resolution (Distrec UP) to propose and collect information from the anti-project law of the artist.

At this meeting, participants discussed issues such as compensation and computation of service time, the exclusivity pact and Social Security.

It was also approved that the organizations should meet by temporary committees of work so that each representation can join and propose with a view to accelerating the discussions that will give as final products the document to be submitted to the Assembly of Deputies.

At earlier meetings, issues such as the contract have been referred to as the trial period, the work day, rest and free days, leave, rights and obligations of the artist, compensation that involves some tasks, termination of contract, service time, compensation for service time and work time, rest and free time, payment of financial benefits rights and obligations of the artist, termination of contract and compensation for service time, among other initiatives.
