MiCultura congratulates Danilo Pérez after conquering Grammy

The Ministry of Culture congratulates Danilo Pérez for his award with vocalist Kurt Elling at the Grammy Award Ceremony as Best Voice Jazz Album with production "Secrets are the Best Stories."

Carlos Aguilar Navarro, Minister of Culture, emphasized the high artistic and collaborative level of this album that won the highest musical performance awarded by the National Academy of Arts or Rebel Sciences of the United States, which recognizes year after year best of the music industry.

"We as Panamanian and Panamanian have to be very proud of the achievements of extraordinary human beings such as Danilo Pérez, who at as difficult as that of the pandemic greatly contribute to bringing us together through music to connect and find moments of peace, mental and spiritual health," emphasized the Minister.

Puerto Rican saxophonist Miguel Zenón, bassist elling Clark Sommers, percussionists Regério Boccato and Ramón Díaz, drummer Johnathan Blake and guitarist Chico Pinheiro also collaborated with this musical project.

Pérez and Eling met at the Panama Jazz Festival Online on March 17 as part of a successful virtual program offering interactive "live" concerts from their website.

"Secrets Are The Best Stories," brings together a powerful message and a unique collaboration between American singer and composer and the acclaimed Panamanian piano and composer who have been co-operative with Jazz's living legend, Wayne Shorter, as well as with John Pakercci and Brian Blade, and his result has been described as a unique and dominant force in improvised music both in his historic live performances and in several Grammy prize-winning recordings from 2010.
