MiCultura instates jobs with artists

Concerted work tables are the result of today's meeting between the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and part of the board of directors of the Association of Teatologists of Panama (ASTEP), a meeting that began about 9 a.m. and was held after 1 and 30 p.m..

One of these work tables will seek mediation between the owners of the place where the theatres and the tenants are located to seek to keep the rooms open as part of economic recovery.

Another table has as its north an impetus to production of performing arts including theater. MiCultura reiterated its decision to make available to all branches the theater rooms under its administration as well as to manage the attainment of additional institutional spaces.

These rooms will be offered free of charge at the time of re-opening and will contribute to strengthening the cultural sector at this difficult time. The performing groups will only have to pay for the related insurance policies.

That will be accompanied by a campaign to raise public awareness and motivate them to assist all cultural activities, while complying with all biosecurity measures available to them by the Ministry of Health.

Also at the meeting, the Ministry of Culture submitted its Retirement of Accounts as it did earlier with SITMas, UPPA, UNAP and associations of Folloclologists, among other organisations, cultural unions and institutions.

Further, ASTEP was invited to join an earlier scheduled meeting next week with representatives of trade unions and trade unions of the arts, together with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Labour and Labour Development, to exchange ideas about a future Artist Act that will facilitate, inter alia, access to social security for members of the creative and cultural industries of Panama.

The Ministry of Culture continues its work to create conditions to guarantee the full exercise of cultural rights as contained in President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen's governance plan.
