In virtual format winners of Ricardo Miró are awarded

Panama, 11 November 2020The Ministry of Culture virtual awarded the unique prize of $15,000 to each of the winners of the Ricardo Miró 2020 National Literature Award categories, who have been awarded this year in the works written by: Luis Polido Ritter (test), Agent Prieto Machado (poetry), Emiliano Pardo Tristan (novel), Indi Lucía Pereira (theater) and Javier Medina Bernal (tale).

A select national and international jury composed of Test category-María del Mar Obando (Costa Rica), Aida Pararraga (El Salvador) and Felix Chirú (Panama), theater category- Vivian Martínez (Cuba), Carolina Ferreira (Colombia) and Gina Cochez (Panama), poetry category-Lil Picado (Costa Rica), Karla Olvera (Mexico) and Vasco Franco (Panama), category tale- Karina pacheco Medrano (Peru), Rodrigo Hasbún (Bolivia) and Alcides Fuentes (Panama) and for category of novel-Sergio Ramírez (Nicaragua), Santiago Gamboa (Colombia) and Milton Henríquez (Panama) evaluated the 208 works participating in the 78's version of this national contest.

The prizes and their winners:

• Test category: “A Transatlantic Journey; America, Africa, Europe - negative relative to them - in the critique of Eurocentrism in modernity, from the writer Luis Polido Ritter.

Ritter polished: He has published several academic articles in national and international journals and has been awarded the Ricardo Miró National Literature Award with his essay.Philosophy of the Romantic Nation (2007), Postcolonial Critical Fragments(2017) and with A transatlantic journey: America, Africa and Europe(2020). He is an Special Professor at the University of Panama and a Corresponsable Member of the Panamanian Academy of Lingua.

• Theater category: "Waking up in the abyss", written by Indi Lucía Pereira Solís.

Indi Pereira: Animator, graphic designer, writer and illustrator. He was awarded from Universidad Latina de Panama in 2011 with his title in Digital Animation. He works actively with a number of organisations, as Fundación Iguales, with workshops for diversity and human rights.

• Category poetry: "To make you invincible" of Agent Prieto Machado.

Agnor Prieto: He was born in 1989 in the Republic of Panama and lives from his teens in Spain and his degree in philosophy. At seventeen, his concern about poetry was born after his first reading to his Hispanic authors. In 2015 his prize was awarded by Javier Kostalé de Poesía Joven with his work. The Creator SilenceFrom Galicia she reads, writes and strives to study several languages.     

• Tale category: "My mother's paper and other tales", written by Javier Medina Bernal.

Medina Bernal is a musician and writer. He has released five studio productions and offered concerts in Latin American and European countries. He has four Ricardo Miró literature awards. He's a founding member of the Panama Cantapors Foundation Tocando Madera.

• Category of novel The winner was Emiliano Pardo Tristan with the letter "The white and the black."

Study at the Royal Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, Spain and has a master's degree and a Ph.D. in music fromTemple University, Philadelphia, and a post-doctoralNew York UniversityHe has taught lectures at Oxford University, La Sorbonne in Paris and the University of Salamanca. He has published 118 article about music and literature and is a teacher of composition and theory of music atTemple University.

Additional to these national awards, the Jury by category recognized the quality of other works as: "Miranda" and "Cause of the Just" (theater), "The City of the Wind" (poetry) and "Windows to Yesterday" (tale).

Each of the winners holds a unique prize of 15,000 pits, a gold medal, a scroll and the reproduction of 100 copies of his work after his publication.
