National Government installs Commission for Bicentennial of Panama's Independence of Spain

The National Government, through the Ministry of Culture, will organize a number of events and activities to mark the 200 years of the Declaration of Independence of Panama of Spain, an emancipatory process that was developed between November 10 and 28, 1821.
To enhance our country's history and as part of that important and transcendental historic moment, the Executive sets up a Commission to conduct the Celebration in commemoration of the two-hundredth anniversary of Panama's independence from Spain in 2021.
He also propose the creation of a national contest to select the logo (isotype or impotype) from the Bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence of Panama of Spain.
He will be responsible to Carlos Aguilar Navarro, Minister of Culture, as Chair of the Commission that will be composed of the Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, and to the Minister of Government, Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, and the general manager of the Panama Tourism Authority of the Ivilan Eskildsen and Javier Carrizo, Manager of the National Bank of Panama, as well as Sara Omi Casama, an indigenous leader and specialist in human rights, and Professor Beatriz Rovira de pacheco, representing the Association of Anthropology and History of Panama and his historians, and Alfredo Jatorias and Luis Jatero and José and Jatorro.
They are also outstanding as members of this commission, journalist and teacher Griselda López, teacher Melva Lowe de Goodin, Julio De La Lastra, President of the National Board of Private Enterprise, entrepreneur Enrique De Obarrio and worker leader, elberto Cobos Rodriguez.
The Minister of Culture explained that the two-hundredth commission will be charged with organizing commemorative events that highlight the importance of this date, not only for Panama but for all Latin American nations that have been managing their independence in that year.
The Commissioners will also organize conferences concerning the 200 years of Panama's independence from Spain, highlighting the importance of this historic event, and will promote and promote research with an independent conduct as their main theme and will publish works and research related to the Bicentennial of Panama's Independence from Spain and will design cultural and educational programs that highlight the relevance of events at that time and their impact on the formation of the Republic of Panama.
The aim of these activities is to promote that, during the celebration of the patriotic festivities, the central and most important theme will be the Bicentennial of the Independence of Panama of Spain.
