MiCultura participates at CERLALC regional meeting

Panama, 26 June 2020.The Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro, presented to the Executive Committee of the Regional Centre for the Promotion of Book in Latin America and the Caribbean (CERLALC), with Ibero-American ministers, his efforts as a government team to facilitate access to Panamanian and Ibero-American literature and his fight to bridge the digital divide in educational and cultural matters.

Aguilar Navarro explained the benefits of the newly created Multimodal Platform ESTER, developed by the Ministry of Education, and forms part of the national strategy as a response to development in educational innovation, that also promotes Panamanian literature from the promotion of student reading.

The actors in the publishing sector, reading and promoting the book shared experiences to update and give continuity to the issues that fall within this international entity.

The meeting addressed measures that have been taken in different countries with respect to COVID 19 and strategies for digitalizing and promoting reading through new platforms that have been advanced about this juncture.

Similarly, the need to implement projects that serve to strengthen the digital literary offer was emphasized, while MiCultura's interest in strengthening Mariano Arosemena's Editorial for projects that, with the support of its new Editorial Board, generate research and content related to cultural rights objectives was emphasized.
