MiCultura participates in blood donation sessions

Panama, 17 May 2020.The Ministry of Culture participates in a blood donation day with residents of San Felipe and officials of the institution.

Through the Office of Casco Antiguo (OCA) of the ministry, the DONA VIDA organization, the Blood Bank of the National Oncological Institute (ION) and the Association of Neighbors and Friends of Casco Antiguo (AVACA), the initiative responded to the support that various institutions conduct with the program of the First Lady of the Republic, Yazmin Colón of Cortizo in promoting public blood donated to save lives.

According to Fernando Díaz Jaramillo, director of Casco Antiguo's office at MiCultura, this activity supports initiatives and alliances to get blood donations from town historic centre and area residents, who have shown an interest in helping especially at this juncture as well as officials who have been using our facilities to save lives.

For his part, Abdiel Cubilla from the Blood Bank of the National Oncological Institute emphasized that the best way to get blood donation is through communities.

"That activity we have been performing with MiCultura, AVACA and First Lady's Office, allows Panamanian people to get involved by looking for the improvement of patients we have at different hospitals and the most comfortable and secure way for donors to do so through these mobile collections," she emphasized.

Dona Vidas was established in 2012 to contribute to better care for oncological patients with a timely and secure blood supply. In recent weeks they have registered important donor figures with more than 500 voluntary people, but they reiterate to citizens the importance of collaborating with blood banks throughout the country.
