Regional MiCultura join Panama Solidarity Plan

Panama, March 31, 2020. The Ministry of Culture, through its regional office, supports the actions set out in the Panama Solidarity Plan, which aims to secure food supply to those most in need in every province of the country.

From last Saturday she began distributing food bags in specific areas of San Miguelito and Colón and currently volunteers work in central provinces with the delivery of food bags.

The regional management of Coclé, with his team of volunteers, contributed with the load to the trucks with food bags and distribution at Natá de los Knights and Olá, while at the regional of Herrera, the partners that joined the actions of government, participating with the delivery of food. Also, the regional offices of Los Santos and Chiriquí have been united with national solidarity activities.

Following the progress of the Panama Solidarity Plan's work schedule, both regional and voluntary partners at the institution, under 35 years of age, are accompanying the voluntary team that has been activated to support the population, informal or unemployed workers (regardless of whether they have lost their jobs during this crisis or not) and people whose jobs have been suspended as a result of the current situation.

The bags have rice in five-pound pits, porotes, flour, sugar and pasta, milk, tuna, coffee, salt and other dry products that are complemented by fruit and vegetables and protein of animal origin, such as birds and pork and beef, from national producers.

The Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar, remarked that "No Panamanian can be put back. We are all important in this fight against Coronavirus and we have to support ourselves with this adversity," appealing to the solidarity spirit that always characterizes Panamanians.

"Together with all state offices we are active, undertaking initiatives in support and solidarity for the population and thus we all help to address the health emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic," said Aguilar Navarro.
