National Government Invites Virtual Visit at National Theater

Panama, March 28, 2020 - The National Government, through the Ministry of Culture, invites the public to conduct a virtual tour of the Panama National Theater as part of the program # MiCulturaInCasa and the global trend to known virtual "tours" to monuments, cultural buildings and museums, especially during the quarantine by COVID-19.
The National Theater is a beautiful Neo-Renaissance building designed by architect Genaro Ruggieri, built from 1905 to 1908 and restored several times and as a state project (1941-1943), under the direction of the famed architect René Brenes (1970- 1974), by the company Hhave Uve with Arosemena and Associates (2002- 2004) and recently as a project of the National Institute of Culture completed by the Ministry of Culture (2017- 2019).
Marinell Barnett, representing the Virtual PTY company, has free production of the video of the National Theater with the aim of contributing it to the Ministry of Culture at this quarantine juncture, so that Panamanians can have from their computers or phones the experience of visiting the museum.
To the Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro, this initiative is an excellent opportunity for Panamanian people who have been unable to get to know the inside of Panama's National Theater, the house of Panamanian performing arts and best stage where our artists dream of their art and performances.
"We have been performing our My Culture Project at home in this great stage, where we invite Panamanian artists to express their manifestations at this stage of war with the Coronavirus," the Minister expressed.
The virtual visit will also be available at the Cultural Ministry's website.
The National Theater holds an impressive pictorial program starring Roberto Lewis's frescoes (1874-1949) with an outstanding Panamanian painter honored by the Roberto Lewis National Visual Arts Competition, awarded annually to leading plastic artists in Panama.
It's a First Order building at the Casco Antiguo of Panama, part of the World Heritage site before UNESCO "Old Panama Archaeological Site and Historic District of Panama," considered as a Panamanian jewel at the milestones of human history.
