Portobelo's Ministry of Culture and Mayors sign an agreement to rescue Portobelo

Panama, January 22, 2020The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and the mayor's office of Portobelo signed an agreement for the rescue, administration and restoration of all monuments and property of Portobelo.

That agreement will start to recover important infrastructure of this town of the Upper Coastfrom Colón with the restoration of four fortifics and the repair of the roof of the Colonial Customs, actions that are scheduled to start this month, as agreed at the Tourist Cabinet of the good governance of President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen.

Progress has been made with the rehabilitation work of the Customs Building, Portobelo, by placing a temporary cover at the ceiling to avoid more damage to the structure.

The mayor of the Portobelo District, Carlos Chavarría and the Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar, with their respective work teams, participated at the signing event.
