MiCultura increases inclusive program at Plastic Arts School

Panama 9 March 2020.More than a dozen talented pupils with disabilities have been integrated into the first half of the first half of the National School of Plastic arts of the Ministry of Culture.

The teacher Sandra de Alaín, director of the educational centre, at an information meeting for students and parents about what will be this school period reported that 17 students joined the group of students from the different artistic disciplines of the study centre.

The Vice-Minister of Culture, Gabriel González, explained that the school period begins with good challenges by transforming culture. "At the governmental level, we have been able to get in contact with most of the institutions and ministries so that we can accept the inclusion in different fields of the arts of persons with disabilities, of the native peoples and of different races," the deputy minister said.

The national director of artistic education, Ellis Newman and Jorge Morales, director of Equal Opportunities, participated in the visit to the National School of Plastic Arts with a view to familiarize with the participation of young people and children with disabilities, with the different disciplines that this school dictates and with the needs for inclusion for this school period.

Jorge Morales, director of Equal Opportunities, emphasized that the institution has an inclusive culture among its priorities through awareness-raising, with workshops and inclusion programs and with art as their best way of expressing people with disabilities. "

For his part, Newman stated that as a ministry, it's imperative that inclusion be replicated to other cultural centers at national level.

"We thank them for their confidence in bringing their people to this headquarters and we hope that the next few months will be a change and soon with the City of the Arts, they will have all the comforts their children require," she added.

On his journey, the deputy ministers of culture and his work team shared with eight students what had been learned during these class weeks during the course of sculpture.
