MiCultura will hold first Regional Crafts Design Forum at Fashion Week Panama

Panama, 26 October 2020.The Ministry of Culture through the National Handicraft Management will be part of the 19th edition of the Fashion Week Panama (FWP) with the first Regional Forum for Handicraft Fashion and inclusion from 26 to 30 October.

The event that will be held in virtual format will project the best of national fashion at an international level with the participation of more than 10 Panamanian designers, creators and artisans.

The activity will have international exhibitors from Central America and the Caribbean as well as renowned national exhibitors that will discuss issues related to artisan innovation.

Jaime Luna National Director of Handicrafts, explained that for the first time the public will be able to see collections inspired by Panama's folklore. "We will highlight in our crafts, idiosyncrasy," riches of foliage, vegetation, tropical forests, flowers and fauna, "that's what Panama's biological diversity represents," the official concluded.

MiCultura has been making alliances, strategies and initiatives to support the development of designer and artisan jobs and this time remains dedicated to their talent and creativity so that they will jointly propose innovative collections while at FWP 2020 creating spectacular designer pieces with that handmade touch, Luna added.

The cultural entity will give a space to show the talent of disabled artisan who together with models with disabilities will propose their creations, thus showing that there is no obstacle to creativity and strengthening one of the aims of this administration, that society recognizes that their cultural rights are part of their human rights.

Federico Visuetti, Jean Decort, Jochebechec, Hélène Breebaart, Moises Sandoya, Tony Vergara and Annie Chajin are some of the designers who with artisan will have interesting collections where they will use organic resources, creating eco-friendly clothing and other innovations.
