< strong > Minister of Culture, gives details of achievements to members of the accredited Consular Corps in Panama < / strong >

Projects such as Ciudad de Las Artes, the SiCultura platform, the recent surrender of the Portobelo Customs and its Afro-Panamanian memory museum as well as that of Fort San Lorenzo, among others, were mentioned by the Minister of Culture (MiCultura), Giselle González Villarrué, in his report to members of the Consular Corps accredited to Panama.

The diplomats, who were invited by Minister González Villarrué have had an opportunity to get to know first-hand about the advances that are being made to strengthen the museums of MiCultura, including Reina Torres de Arauz (MARTA), the collection of several research works with the Centro de Investigaciones Históricas Antropológica and Cultural de Panama (CIHAC) and with the Coordination of Intangible Heritage works to document the inmaterial heritage of the nation.

Furthermore, Minister González Villarrué illustrated them about initiatives to enjoy different cultural events so that Panamanian people have more access to them as free concerts at the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Ballet seasons and exhibitions at different national galleries, festivals and workshops.

With the creation of MiCultura, the Minister explained that other administrative units have been established, such as the Creative and Folklore Economics and other ones that have been acquired and found at the Ministry of Commerce (MICI) as the office of copyright, Crafts and Intangible Heritage that contribute to institutional and help preserve the heritage and put to value the creative part of artists and cultural managers.

The members of the diplomatic corps extended their acceptance of the programs advanced by MiCultura, congratulated Minister González Villarrué and committed themselves to strengthening links through cultural exchanges and cooperation to share these cultural achievements outside the country.

That meeting was part of the sixth regular general assembly of this group, chaired by Mayella Lloyd, Dean President of the Consular Corps accredited to Panama who requested that the cultural entity be headquarters, an exercise that according to Lloyd serves to get to know more about the work of the institutions.
