Salsa and local talent take Cathedral Square

Panama September 19, 2026. Cathedral Square was stage this Saturday of the first edition of Tucbao Fest, organized by the Ministry of Culture, that brought together tourists, families and nationals of different ages at a day dedicated to salsa, dance and culture with live music, dance competitions, crafts and gastronomy.

Since late afternoon, a live DJ has been keeping an atmosphere with a selection of salsa themes that invited attendees to participate and enjoy the activity. One of the main attractions was dance competitions in different categories that brought together members of several salsa academies from the country and allowed them to show the talent and creativity of dancers..

The meeting also offered a space for artisan production and local entrepreneurship with a sample that included indigenous crafts, carved wood pieces, pits with designs inspired by pre-Columbian painting, handinteracted handbags and suebeters, jewelry and handmade soap, among other products prepared by national creators..

The proposal was also extended to cuisine with the participation of Sabores del Barrio, who added different options for visitors and helped to create an atmosphere of co-existence around Plaza Catedral, integrating music, flavors and expressions of local culture in an same space.

The closing date was by Orquesta La Migra, from the National Migration Service, that brought the live music to the stage and put the final clasp at an afternoon marked by the dance and public participation. His presentation expanded the festival's musical proposal and maintained the festive atmosphere until the end of the activity.

With this first edition, Tumbao Fest turned Cathedral Square into a meeting place for music, dance, gastronomy, crafts and entrepreneurship, promoting the cultural use of public space and generating a stage for artists, entrepreneurs and local producers to share their proposals with Casco Antiguo residents and visitors.
