Panama's National Ballet presents "The Lake of the Swan" in Brazil and strengthens cultural exchange

Panama, September 17, 2026. The talent of 44 Panamanian dancers reached the iconic Teatro Quitandinha in Brazil with the presentation of "The Lake of the Swan," by Piotr Ilich Chaikovski, as part of an agenda that combines the international projection of Panamanian performing arts with new actions of cultural cooperation between Panama and Brazil.

The performance of the National Ballet of Panama brings together dancers and production and technical personnel as well as representatives of the National Theater Board, who participate in this day of artistic exchange with one of the most recognized and demanding works of the classical repertoire.

The presence of the Panamanian company in Brazil forms part of an agenda aimed at broadening cultural links between both nations and generating new opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and projects in performing arts and other fields of culture.

The Minister of Culture of Panama, María Eugenia Herrera, emphasized that this participation allows to show out of the country the work, discipline and preparations of Panamanian artists.

"Our artists are ambassadors of our identity and our heritage. Each step on stage leads with them the efforts of a country that challenges artistic excellence and cultural development," stated Minister Herrera.

As part of this agenda, the Ministry of Culture of Panama and the Redemptor Institute have signed an Agreement on Cultural Cooperation at Social Work Leste Um - O Sol, located in Jardim Botânico neighborhood, Rio de Janeiro.

The agreement was signed by Fr. Omar, rector of the Redeemer Christ Sanctuary and president of the Redeemer Institute and the Minister of Culture of Panama, María Eugenia Herrera. At the event also the consul General of Panama was present at Rio de Janeiro, Rubén Argüelles.

The instrument lays down spaces for collaboration to strengthen the international vision of the Redemptor Institute and to extend the tourist and cultural exchange between Brazil and Panama through initiatives related to cultural heritage, sustainable and religious tourism, artistic and creative exchange as well as exhibitions of visual arts, crafts, archaeology, anthropology and ethnography.

The agenda of the Panamanian delegation also included a visit to the Redeemer's Christ Shrine, one of the main cultural and tourist references of Rio de Janeiro, as part of this meeting aimed at strengthening the links between the institutions of both countries.

The presentation of "The Lake of the Swan" and the signing of the agreement mark a day in which Panama projects its artistic production at international stage and at the same time expands its spaces for cultural cooperation with Brazil.

Thus, Panama's National Ballet adds a new experience to its international agenda, bringing to the Brazilian public a sample of Panamanian artistic talent and opening up new opportunities for exchange and collaboration to benefit the cultural sector of both countries.
