٢١ شباط/فبراير ٢٠٢٦ - ستتلقى النحتة التاريخية للتحرير سيمون بوليفار عملية حفظ وقائية، وستعاد أماكنها في حيز استراتيجي جديد عند مدخل بلدة كولون كجزء من الإجراءات الرامية إلى إنقاذ التراث التاريخي والثقافي الذي حققته الدولة البنمية.

ويُنفذ المشروع نتيجة للعمل المشترك الذي يقوم به المجتمع البوروندي، ووزارة الخارجية، ووزارة الثقافة، والمؤسسات التي تنسق الجهود الرامية إلى إعادة تسليط الضوء والكرامة إلى هذا الرمز التاريخي الهام.

النحتة كانت في الأصل في حديقة (كولون) 5 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر ومع ذلك، خلال أعمال إعادة الموقع، تم تفكيك النصب التذكاري ونقل إلى قبو بلدي، حيث ظل محتجزاً منذ عام 2016.
